I really bought the characters and fell in love with Rule. Shaw is a smart girl who is very self-aware, the true opposite of Rule in heart and temperment. I only gave it three stars because of the last third of the book. Nothing really happened for over 50 pages, and there was, as one reviewer put it, walls of dialogue. No one talks in soliloquy. I found myself skimming what might have been crucial dialogue out of irritation. Also, Rule sometimes spoke like a girl, as opposed to his introspection that was all guy. I'll read the next one because of the characters and the author is very talented, though!
